Established in 1992, The Belize Bureau of Standards is a government department charged with the responsibility for standards, metrology and conformity assessment.
With a staff complement of 19, the Bureau is discharging its duties to serve its stakeholders, regulators, businesses and consumers alike. With the ISO methodology used as the basis of its 5 year standards development programme, the BZBS promulgates internationally recognized standards that are in congruence with Belize’s socioeconomic needs.
Recent developments to install physical laboratories for Scientific and Industrial Metrology, ISO certification to 9001, execution of Quality Infrastructure projects with regional partners such as the Caricom Regional Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) and the Caribbean Development Bank, will undoubtedly elevate the Bureau as one of Belize’s leading institution for national and regional development.
