Virtual workshop

First awareness session for ISO members in developing countries.

Background

ISO/TC 331 has been created in 2020 to conduct standardizing work in the field of biodiversity to develop requirements, principles, framework, guidance and supporting tools in a holistic and global approach for all relevant organizations, to enhance their contribution to Sustainable Development.

To ensure that developing country voices are heard from early stages on in this new committee, the ISO capacity building unit is launching a capacity building journey to support efficient developing country participation in ISO/TC 331. This initiative is implemented as part of the ISO Action Plan for Developing Countries.

A series of virtual sessions will be organized to create awareness on ISO/TC 331 and to train on key elements about ISO, its standard development process and how to participate efficiently. These sessions will help experts and delegates from developing countries to be better prepared for the upcoming virtual meetings of ISO/TC 331 from 8 to 12 March 2021.

Objective

Increase awareness on biodiversity and the newly created TC committee (ISO/TC 331 - Biodiversity) among the ISO members in developing countries.
